]]>Beyond having a really cool name, Musa Basjoo grants all gardeners, even those in colder climates, the opportunity to grow gorgeous tropical foliage. Native to the Ryuku Islands near Japan, this exceptional Banana Tree is considered winter hardy through USDA Zones 5-10 because the roots, if well mulched, can survive temperatures of -10 degrees F.
Whether you’re growing indoors as a houseplant or outdoors in the landscape, Musa Basjoo plants are fantastic for adding tropical flair, but they definitely need lots of space. These large, fast-growing Banana trees grow 6 to 14′ tall with massive, paddle-shaped leaves reaching 2′ wide and 6′ long. Creamy yellow blossoms may arrive in summer on mature plants, followed by small, green, inedible fruit. Enj!
